About the book

The Fruit Ninjas: Nocturnal Avian Mammal Rescue is a fast-paced, rhyming picture book that follows Yuto, a young bat with big dreams and even bigger heart. When his mother is captured by a fearsome owl, Yuto and his sister Suki set off on a daring jungle mission to bring her back. Along the way, they outsmart predators, master stealthy ninja skills, and discover that true strength comes from love, teamwork, and believing in yourself—even when you’re the smallest one in the sky.

With vibrant illustrations, playful rhymes, and a heartwarming message, The Fruit Ninjas is a story for kids (and grown-ups) who love animals, adventure, and a little bit of fruit-fueled fun.

How did we do it?

1/3 Painstaking Research

Before a single rhyme was written or a bat was sketched, we went deep—researching nocturnal mammals, echolocation, and jungle ecosystems like we were prepping for a PhD in Fruit-Based Flight Mechanics. Every swoop, shadow, and squeak has a footnote in our minds. Accuracy mattered. Yes, even bat housing was debated. Extensively. Over coffee.

1/3 Raw Creativity

We have built a world where bats wear headbands, opossums are dramatic villains, and ninja school is a real thing. We wrote, we rhymed, we revised—then we rhymed again. Each line had to sing, bounce, and occasionally dropkick you in the heart. We wanted something kids would love, but grown-ups would secretly giggle through, too.

3/3 Pure Madness

Two years, twelve rewrites, countless midnight messages like “what rhymes with guava?” and a suspicious amount of snacks later… here we are. We argued over fruit types. We argued over bat emotions. One of us may have dramatically declared “I THINK I AM THE BAT” at one point. It wasn’t always pretty—but it was always wildly, joyfully, and chaotically worth it.
